The website
This website doesn't use cookies or any other tracking, and it has no forms. When you tap a WhatsApp, call or email button, your own app opens and your message comes straight to us. Our hosting provider may keep basic technical logs, such as IP addresses, for a short time to keep the website secure.
If we add anything that uses cookies in future, we'll ask for your permission first and update this policy.
This website links to other websites, such as WhatsApp, Trustpilot and social media. We're not responsible for how they handle your information, so please read their own privacy policies.
Personal information
How do we collect information?
We collect information when you contact us or use our services, for example by WhatsApp, phone, email or social media. This may include:
- your name and contact details
- the address where the work would be done
- details and photos of your kitchen or project
- your messages, quotes, invoices and payment records
Sometimes we receive your details from someone else, such as a kitchen supplier or another trade who has recommended us, so that we can contact you about your project.
You don't have to give us your details, but we can't quote for or carry out work without them.
How do we use your information?
- To reply to your enquiry and give you a quote, because you have asked us to.
- To arrange, carry out and invoice your work, as this is needed for our agreement with you.
- To keep in touch about your project, including after it's finished, for example about aftercare or to ask for your feedback.
- To keep business, tax and insurance records and deal with any complaints or claims, as the law requires or as needed to protect our business.
- Only with your permission, to show photos of your finished project, or your review (first name and initial only), on our website or social media.
We'll only send you marketing, such as news or offers, if you've agreed to it, and you can opt out at any time. We will never sell your information.
Who do we share it with?
We only share what's needed, with:
- suppliers, tradespeople and other businesses working on your project
- our accountant, bank, insurers and professional advisers
- companies that provide services to us, such as website hosting, email, messaging and IT
- HMRC, the police or other authorities, where the law requires it
- a new owner, if the business is ever sold or passed on
Some of these, such as email and messaging providers, may store information outside the UK. Where they do, it's protected by the safeguards UK data protection law requires. We take reasonable steps to keep your information secure.
How long do we keep your data for?
We keep your information only for as long as we need it for the reasons above. If your enquiry doesn't go ahead, we delete it once it's no longer needed. Records of completed work, such as quotes and invoices, are kept for as long as tax, insurance and other legal requirements mean we need them.
Choosing how we use your data
You can request a readable copy of the personal data we hold on you at any time. To do this, please contact us at joesharpecarpentry@gmail.com.
You can also contact us the same way to:
- correct or update your information
- ask us to delete it
- ask us to stop or limit how we use it, including messages about aftercare or feedback
- ask us to send your information to someone else
- withdraw any permission you've given us, such as for photos of your project
We may ask for proof of identity before we share or change any information.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
